Driving in Long Island Can Get You More Than You Bargained For!

Getting a traffic ticket in New York can be a stressful and confusing situation for any driver. Promptly addressing the ticket is important to minimize its impact on your driving record and finances.

We represent clients in Nassau County frequently, whether they’re tickets issued directly to a motorist or issued to a company and we have gotten great results for our clients. Approximately 339,000 traffic tickets were written in Nassau County in 2023. Many traffic violations in Nassau County are heard at the Nassau County Traffic Violations Agency (Nassau County TVA) located at 801 Axinn Ave in Garden City, New York. Within the past 3 months, we’ve represented clients in that court for various violations including Speeding, Stop Sign, Improper Use of Cell Phone, Improper Passing, Operating without Insurance, and more.

Below are some notable statistics regarding traffic tickets in Nassau County.

  • 32,612 Speeding Tickets were written in Nassau County in 2023
  • 9,384 Stop Sign Tickets were written in Nassau County in 2023
  • 6,121 Improper Use of Cellphone/Portable Electronic Device Tickets were written in Nassau County in 2023
  • 7,473 Aggravated Unlicensed Operation Tickets were written in Nassau County in 2023
  • 8,252 Registration Suspended/Revoked summonses were written in Nassau County in 2023

Matters heard at the Nassau County TVA are usually resolved faster than traffic tickets issued in the 5 boroughs of New York City. New York City traffic tickets are often rescheduled by the DMV directly causing them to be delayed for months and sometimes even YEARS.

The following are examples of recent cases we’ve handled in the Nassau County TVA. For the intents and purposes of this post, we’ll assign names to each example but they do not reflect the true identity of our clients:

  • Our client Nathan, was driving eastbound on the Long Island Expressway and was stopped at Exit-46 by the Town of Oyster Bay and was issued 4 traffic tickets earlier this year. The violations in question were Driving Across Hazard Markings, Improper Passing, Failed to Use Designated Lane and Unsafe Lane Change. In total, the tickets accumulated to 11 points and if convicted would lead to a possible license suspension. After we conferenced the case he did not receive any points on his license and was able to maintain his driving privileges in check. He was imposed fines that totaled $400.
  • Our client Big Bad Trucking was issued 12 traffic tickets in February. One of their company trucks was driving westbound on the I-495 and was stopped at Exit-39 in the Town of North Hempstead. The violations in question were No Rear Detection System, Permitting Inadequate Operation, Defective Tail Lights, and 9 Inadequate Light tickets. We got 10 of those tickets dismissed and a small fine had to be paid to the court for the other 2.
  • Our client Lauren, received a speeding ticket in February. She was driving on the Northern State Parkway by the Town of North Hempstead when she was pulled over. She was issued a 4‑point speeding ticket but after our representation, the court reduced the summons to a no-point violation with a $250 fine.
  • Our client John, was driving eastbound on the Long Island Expressway and was stopped at Exit-33 by the Town of North Hempstead and was issued 2 traffic tickets in April. The violations in question were Failed to Use Designated Lane and Disobey Traffic Device. In total these two tickets carried 5 points. After we conferenced the case he received no points on his license. He was imposed fines that totaled $300.

These client stories are extreme and dramatic cases. Please know that police officers frequently issue many tickets in one stop. Hiring a traffic attorney to fight your tickets can provide invaluable insight and guidance to getting the results you seek in the Nassau County TVA or any other court in the state of New York.

Past results do not guarantee future outcomes. However, we do very well at the Nassau County Traffic Violations Agency located at 801 Axinn Ave in Garden City and in local village courts throughout Nassau County.
