LIPA, Long Island Power Authority is preparing to expand its electric car charging stations in Long Island. Currently there are 112 stations in Nassau and Suffolk.  The plans are to install 32 more and offer special rates for overnight charging. LIPA wants to offer support to their customer choices in using electricity over gas, especially since new electric vehicles are set to hit the market this year.
