These tickets are also known as “Gridlock” or “Blocking the Box”. If convicted you will be fined and receive two points on your driver’s license. The offense is committed when a vehicle enters the intersection without sufficient space to clear the crosswalk on the other side.
These tickets were mainly issued in Manhattan, but now are issued city wide, with streets in all boroughs becoming increasingly congested. Also, expect major holiday season enforcement of Obstruction/Gridlock tickets.
