Yellow Cab New Guidelines

Yellow Cab New Guidelines

Yellow Cabs and other taxi services will be receiving training and new guidelines regarding refused pick ups. The TLC has organized a new Office of Inclusion in efforts to ensure all passengers are provided equal service regardless of destination and race. Dan Rivoli and Jillian Jorgensen wrote the article “’No’ means woe” published in the NYDailyNews on Wednesday August 1 2018 high lighting the new office and policies that are being put in place.

The formation of the new office coincides with new legislation put forth by the New York City Counsel to limit and regulate for hire ride businesses like Uber and Lyft. The new office will be providing anti-discrimination training for drivers while also providing the public with information on how to report instances of discrimination. Refusing service to a passenger may result in a $500 fine for the first instance and the price of the fine and severity of additional punishments increase with every following instance of discrimination.
